Some Terra Trouble
Hello, everyone. As you may know, I've had a bit of trouble lately with a deviant trying to "help" me by taking my "Titan Girls: Terra" picture, editing it, and posting it on a another website to show me "what I did wrong" in drawing it and how I could improve. For some reason, they thought this was a good idea, and left my watermark and initials. Now, I'm always up for constructive criticism and improving my work, but the fact that this person took my art without asking and posted it elsewhere is what I had the problem with. Although the deviant had good intentions, their subsequent attitude and refusal to remove the piece at my request turned it into a case of art theft and led to each of us blocking the other. This deviant has also done his own picture of Terra now, stating that "It was practically a request", as if I bullied him into drawing his own picture of Terra instead of editing mine. That is not the case. No one should have to "request" that you do the right thing, and after their attitude, I really couldn't care less what they are drawing.
Please, if anyone sees this picture or any other of mine, edited or otherwise, on another website, please let me know and tell the administrators of the website that it is a stolen piece, used without permission. (I mean that anyone could post it without asking, not just this person.)
Since the other website's administrators (not the deviant) took down the picture at my request, I have decided not to pursue this any further. I am however, leaving a record here for the future, as I am removing the deviant's comments so they will no longer mar the picture and bother anyone else. I am also doing this to warn other deviants in case the person in question decides to "help" someone again, whether their intentions are good or not. Now I'm not saying all their work is stolen- to the contrary, so please don't go hounding them as nothing but a thief. I am convinced they had good intentions initially, but were mistaken in how to go forward with them. I simply wanted to bring this matter to attention, and hopefully they will think twice before going this route to give advice to someone in the future. If they want to "help" you, I would advise you to say no.
Sorry, but I'm disabling comments. As I've said before, I'm done with this and moving on. Plus, I am too busy and tired to keep defending myself against those who think I'm wrong or equally at fault for standing up for myself against art theft.
Thank you.
I'm not saying your response was too much or too little, after all, you actually 'stole' by drawing copyrighted material, Which Terra is owned by whatever company designed her, but I'm not here to point fingers, I am only saying there is several sides to a story, and harrassing this other guy just because he critiqued your work isn't really the way to go.
I'm not wanting to make a display about this, I just thought I'd throw in an opinion on the situation from a Neutral party.
